Welcome to our website!! Anglais-Volant Microlight School offers flexwing flying training to UK, Eire and French students, in accordance with the UK NPPL microlight syllabus, based at La Baule airfield, South Brittany, France. Easy to reach by road/ferry, train, or scheduled flights, we also offer flexwing conversion courses, licence restrictions removal, refresher courses, revalidations for expired licences, and advanced courses such as precision navigation, over-water, and minimum-weather flying.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE NOW OFFER COURSE ACCOMODATION - see the 'where to stay' page.
We are open 7 days a week, all year round.
The photographs at left and below show our beautiful region, and the lovely setting of La Baule with its airfield and bay.  Anglais-Volant Microlight School is fully integrated with the existing light aircraft facilities offered here. Our airfield is recognised as one of the most beautifully situated in Europe, and the region all around offers many opportunities for some unforgettable flights. Our Microlight School was opened in June 2001, and is run by our French-speaking Chief Flying Instructor, Phil Lee. As well as offering all aspects of flexwing microlight flying training to the UK syllabus, we can offer air experience flights out over the bay for holidaymakers, and also an aerial photography service.
If interested in having some flying training or an air experience flight whilst holidaying at La Baule, or if coming over specifically to train with us, please send an e-mail to the address shown in the banner above. At La Baule, even when it's turbulent inland it's often possible to find smooth air out over the bay. Our region of France, as well as being that little bit warmer than anywhere in the UK, also benefits from around 50% more flyable days. This means that training can be carried out intensively, and progress can be much more rapid than is possible in the UK. This especially true for students coming from Eire, Scotland or Wales, where the shortage of instructors/flyable weather can make progress difficult.
Here, we pride ourselves on the fact that this sport is a safe, affordable way for the average family man/woman to get into the air, offering the excitement of this type of aircraft coupled with the same level of security enjoyed by a modern light aircraft. We minimise risk by using CAA-certified microlights, doing careful pre-flight checks, and by flying strictly within the limitations of the aircraft. Our two aircraft, a P&M GT450, and a P&M Blade 912 are both state-of-the-art microlights hand built at a factory in the Northwest of England. Learning intensively in an environment such as La Baule is good for a student as it gets him/her used to operating somewhere busy right away, as airfields like this are becoming more and more accessible to this type of aircraft. Our training also takes into account the typical "farmers field" microlight site. So, would you like to get into into a pastime that can give you incredible views such as this one on the left, at 7,000ft, or the one below over cloud at 15,000ft?? (yes 15,000ft!!)
Would you like to combine that with a holiday at the same time in our beautiful region of France?
Are you under training at a school in the UK, but would like to progress more quickly in an intensive environment? Are you living in Scotland or Wales and finding it difficult to progress due to a shortage of  instructors and/or flyable weather? Are you living in Eire where there are plenty of places to fly from, but not many instructors to get you started? Do you want to still be able to progress under the internationally-respected UK microlight system, but take advantage of the better weather here? Or would you like to try this fantastic pastime while already here on holiday? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then it couldn't be easier!! Contact Phil either by emailing or telephoning us. The details are shown in the banner at the top of your screen.
